CALLING ALL TEACHERS: NON-PROFIT 2 SIDES EQUAL OFFERING GRANTS TO SUPPORT CREATIVE PROBLEM SOLVING IN THE CLASSROOM
WYNDMOOR, Pa.—June 02, 2014 – Non-profit organization 2 Sides Equal is announcing it is accepting grant applications from teachers looking to carry out creative lessons next school year, but do not have the funding to do so. The grant will provide teachers an opportunity to do more – to go beyond the traditional structure of classroom teaching styles to encourage, enable and promote creative and divergent thinking. The grant will be awarded to teachers to use in the classroom for educational lessons.
“This grant is focused on supporting outstanding teachers. It isn't a competition. If we have the funds and a teacher has a creative approach to a lesson that aligns with our mission, we will issue the grant.” said Chris DeBartlo, Founder of 2 Sides Equal. “We’re searching for teachers who are raising the standards of education, and bringing creative and divergent teaching styles into a traditional classroom setting.”
Through an online application process, teachers around the country can submit their proposed budget, a detailed description of the lesson, and the resources needed. The grant is open to kindergarten – 12th grade school teachers who believe in nurturing creativity, innovation, and the entrepreneurial spirit in the classroom. Any teacher who believes in the mindset that there is more than one solution to a problem and embraces that practice in the classroom is encouraged to apply. The grant is specifically targeted at teachers who have a creative lesson plan or classroom idea in mind for next year, but are unable to bring the plan to life due to financial constraints. The grant is called “The Lisa Ritinski Grant” and was created in memory of Lisa Ritinski, a Philadelphia area elementary school teacher who was an advocate of differentiated educational instruction, and embraced the idea that every student learns differently in the classroom. The Grant is funded through a variety of community and corporate donors. 2 Sides Equal needs continued support for this grant. To donate to and learn more, visit http://www.2sidesequal.org.
